Stanislas Jourdan is an expert in macroeconomic and financial policy. He cofounded and led the Brussels-based nonprofit organisation Positive Money Europe<\/a>. For five years, he led advocacy campaigns and research on the European Central Bank and monetary policy. A former journalist, he also co-founded basic income movements in France and at the EU level.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stanislas Jourdan started his career in 2010 as a journalist covering the rise of the sharing economy and the Eurozone financial crisis. He worked for OWNI, La Tribune and wrote for several others newspapers as a freelancer. In 2013-14 he was chief editor of OuiShare magazine<\/a> and of L’Inconditionnel<\/em>, a one-time print newspaper. He also ran several blogs in French (T\u00eate de Quenelle) and English (Boiling Frogs). Stanislas obtained a Master in Entrepreneurship (ESSCA Business School) in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2012, Stanislas Jourdan played a key role in building the basic income movement in France and Europe. In 2013 he co-organized the European Citizens’ Initiative for Unconditional Basic Income which gathered 285,000 signatures, and led to the creation of Unconditional Basic Income Europe<\/a>. He also founded the French movement for Basic Income (MFRB<\/a>) which counts more than 800 members today. He was also an active editor for Basic Income News<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Stanislas joined Positive Money <\/a>in 2015, a fast-growing movement leading a progressive critique of central banks and advocating for a fair, democratic and sustainable economy. His role initially focused on coordinating the campaign “Quantitative Easing for the People” in the Eurozone. From 2018, he led the establishment of Positive Money’s EU office in Brussels. Under his leadership, the organisation grew from 1 to 10 employees and obtained more than 2 millions euros in funding from various philanthropic foundations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Executive Director of Positive Money Europe, Stanislas Jourdan has authored multiple reports on green monetary policy<\/a>, central bank accountability<\/a> and helicopter money<\/a>. His expertise on monetary policy, basic income and EU institutional affairs is recognized by his frequent engagement with policymakers and civil society leaders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His views are frequently covered in leading European media outlets (including\u00a0Reuters<\/a>, Politico EU<\/a>,\u00a0Financial Times<\/a>, Handelsblatt<\/a>, La Tribune<\/a>, AFP<\/a>,\u00a0Bloomberg<\/a>,\u00a0Euractiv<\/a>,\u00a0Le Monde<\/a>, Les Echos<\/a>) and he is often invited as speaker or moderator<\/a>\u00a0in conferences including at the European Parliament, the EESC and the European Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, Stan Jourdan leaves Positive Money Europe and continues to advocate for policies that serve social justice, democracy and the climate transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
